1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility & age

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf. We may restrict or refuse access where required by law.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secret and for all activity that happens under your account. Do not share, sell, buy or transfer accounts or characters. Notify us promptly if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account. One person may not operate accounts in a way intended to gain an unfair advantage.

4. Rules of conduct

Tikal is a shared world. To keep it fair and welcoming, you agree not to:

• Cheat, use bots, macros, automation or third-party software that interacts with the Service, or exploit bugs and unintended mechanics.
• Harass, threaten, defraud or harm other players, or post hateful, illegal or sexually explicit content.
• Interfere with, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its servers or other accounts.
• Trade in-game items, characters or currency for real money outside official, in-game systems.
• Impersonate staff or other players, or misrepresent your affiliation with Tikal.

5. Virtual items & Patron

The Service is free to play. We also offer an optional paid Patron subscription and other virtual goods. Virtual items, currency and Patron benefits are a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use them within the Service — they have no real-world monetary value and cannot be redeemed for cash. Paid subscriptions renew for the stated period until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and keep your benefits until the end of the current billing period. Where payments are processed through a platform or third-party processor, that provider's terms and refund policies also apply. Except where required by law, purchases are non-refundable. We may change, add or remove virtual items and benefits over time.

6. Intellectual property

Tikal, including its name, artwork, lore, characters, maps, code, music and all other content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the Service for your own non-commercial enjoyment. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, data-mine or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly permitted by law.

7. Your content

You may submit content such as character names, chat messages and feedback ("Your Content"). You keep ownership of Your Content, but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and use it as needed to operate, moderate and improve the Service. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to share it. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.

8. Suspension & termination

We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access — including deleting characters or accounts — if you breach these Terms, or to protect the Service and its players, or where required by law. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time. Some provisions, by their nature, survive termination (for example intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability).

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any progress, items or data will be preserved. You use the Service at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, progress, virtual items or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in-game or on the website. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of operation, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. Any disputes will be handled by the competent courts there, unless the law grants you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
