Beginner guide
Your first hour in Tikal
Tikal rewards curiosity and caution. This route takes you from the first screen to a vocation and a goal for your first mainland hunt.
1. Create your character
Open Tikal in a browser or install the app. Register your account and create a character. You can continue with the same account on Android, iPhone, Windows, and the web.
Your adventure starts on Mayahuel, the training island. Follow the prompts on screen; you can reopen the in-game guide whenever you need it.
2. Learn to move
On a phone, use the movement pad. If you prefer another control, switch to tap-to-walk or joystick in Options. On a computer, you can use the movement keys.
Leave the sanctuary before trying to attack: it is a protected area.
3. Talk to Daykeeper Itzel
Find Daykeeper Itzel near where you wake. The opening guide points the way and opens the conversation. Talking to people in the world reveals clues, supplies, and quests.
4. Hunt carefully
Follow the prompt toward your first Rats. Pick a target, attack, and check the loot after the fight. Dying has consequences in Tikal: retreat if your health gets too low.
Store coins and valuable items in a vault when you reach a city. The vault protects your belongings even if you die during a hunt.
5. Choose a vocation and move on
After learning the basics and reaching the required level, swear a vocation on Mayahuel. You can favor close combat, range, magic, or support. The choice shapes your tools and does not require payment.
When you reach the mainland, open Quests and look for a hunting route suited to your level. Tikal's Hunting Guide has more destinations when you are ready to explore.
